PARC Deputy Director Discusses Officer Discipline Issues in Charlotte Observer

PARC Deputy Director Matthew Barge discussed officer discipline issues with the Charlotte Observer.  The article seeks to undertsand why 2 officers were fired or received time off across 67 officer-involved shooting incidents since 2005.

“Officers have a tremendous amount of discretion, and if the department isn’t holding them accountable, there is no check on that discretion,” said Matt[hew] Barge, deputy director of the Police Assessment Resource Center, which advises police departments.
